Dr. Bo Nielsen's comments: things to look out for in a multivitamin
Minerals are just as important as vitamins, but should not be included in the same supplement because some vitamins can reduce the efficacy of some minerals and vice versa. We recommend taking a multivitamin supplement in the morning and a mineral supplement in the evening.
Ideally, a multivitamin supplement should not contain vitamin A; excess vitamin A can be unhealthy and even dangerous. Our body is very cleverly arranged so that when it needs vitamin A, it simply converts carotene and other carotenoids into it. So, make sure your multivitamin has a good dosage of carotenoid mix.
We don't recommend that you take a multivitamin containing iron. Why? Iron can be toxic and cause oxidation and free radicals. Most of us get enough iron from food and unless we have anaemia or any other condition which causes iron deficiency, we don't need to take iron.
