Mother's exposure to air pollution lowers child's IQ

Added 18.02.2010

Maternal exposure to PAHs lower child's IQ

Pregnant women who expose themselves to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) risk their child having a lowered IQ. PAHs are produced by burning fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, gas and diesel. These environmental pollutants are also produced by the burning of tobacco and in our cities, motor vehicles are largely to blame for PAHs. Many studies have already linked PAHs to cancer and birth defects.

In this new study, children whose mothers had a high exposure to PAHs during pregnancy (more than 2.26 ng/m3) had full scale IQ scores that were 4.31 points lower and verbal IQ scores that were 4.67 points lower than children who were less exposed to the pollutants. Researchers say these results are significant because they may interfere with school performance.

Protect yourself and your child from environmental pollutants with chlorella

Unfortunately, we live in an increasingly toxic world. We are surrounded by pollutants of all kinds, some worse than others. Imagine that in just the past 40 years more than 50,000 new chemical substances have been introduced into our environment! PAHs are just one of the many chemicals that pose a health threat for us and in this case even for our children.

Doctor's Natural Super Chlorella is a microscopic algae that is well-known to effectively and safely help you detox many pollutants including aluminum, mercury, lead, cadmium, sulphites, pesticides, PCBs and PAHs. Grape seed extract (Grapavin) is also recommended for pregnant and breast feeding women.

Dr. Bo Nielsen's comments:

We have known for years that chronic exposure to certain toxins may lower the IQ of children. The study recently published in the medical journal Pediatrics now provides evidence that mothers exposed to environmental PAHs at levels encountered in New York City air (and many other cities around the world) can adversely affect even an unborn child's IQ. Chlorella is one of the many natural supplements that we know can safely detoxify many pollutants including aluminum, mercury, lead, cadmium, sulphites, pesticides, PCBs and possibly PAHs. I can only recommend that everyone, but especially pregnant women living in urban areas, help their children avoid a lowered IQ by taking cholrella in combination with basic vitamins and minerals in "active" dosages and grape seed extract. Just remember that the chlorella you choose to take must be organic in order to work effectively.
