What is omega-3 fish oil?
Omega-3 fish oil consists of essential long-chain unsaturated fatty acids (good fat) that are extracted (refined and stripped of heavy metals and toxins) from oily cold water fish, such as salmon, trout, tuna, mackerel and sardines. Omega-3 fatty acids play a vital role in thousands of biochemical processes in our body. Two of the most important fatty acids in omega-3 are eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).
Omega-3 fish oil is notorious for good health, such as improving mental health, protecting against certain types of cancer, improving mood and behaviour, supporting good vision, reducing inflammation and protecting the heart.
Omega-3 fish oil promotes a healthy heart
Scientific studies gathered from the past 30 years are showing undeniable evidence that omega-3 fish oil can protect our hearts. This may have a huge impact given that cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the number one killer in the UK and is responsible for around 200,000 deaths a year.
How much omega-3 fish oil should we take? According to research, at least 500 mg per day for healthy people, and at least 1,000 mg per day for people with existing heart disease, atherosclerosis or heart failure. omega-3 fish oil is that good for us that it not only helps to prevent CVD, but also protects the heart of people with existing heart failure. In one particular study published in 2008, just 1,000 mg of fish oil is enough to reduce the risk of death from heart failure by almost 10%.
Doctor's Natural omega-3 fish oil (EPA/DHA)
Eating a varied and balanced diet which includes fatty fish is highly recommended as part of a healthy lifestyle. This is not always possible, however, and increasing global pollution means that fish today may contain large amounts of heavy metals and toxins, such as mercury that are potentially very harmful. You can still get enough omega-3 fish oil fatty acids (EPA and DHA) to keep your heart healthy with Doctor's Natural EPA/DHA supplement, which is the perfect alternative to today's polluted fish. With Doctor's Natural EPA/DHA, you will get 2,000 mg of these essential fatty acids per day.
