DNA of pilots, frequent flyers and cabin crew protected with vitamin B

Added 13.01.2011

Ionising radiation damages DNA

A new study brings promising news for pilots and those exposed to ionising radiation: vitamin B3 may protect against DNA damage. If you didn't already know, ionising radiation is electromagnetic radiation that has enough energy to ionise atoms or molecules by removing an electron. In plain terms this means that it can be dangerous because it damages DNA and other internal structures of our cells, which can lead to cancer and other diseases. Ionising radiation can occur naturally, such as cosmic radiation or uranium and radon in the earth's crust or it can be man-made from sources such as nuclear power plants, X-rays and other medical equipment.

Although we are all exposed to small amounts of radiation from the environment, people like pilots and nuclear plant workers are exposed to higher levels.

Protect your DNA from damage with vitamin B3

Not to worry because a new study says with about 28 mg of vitamin B3 a day, you can reduce the risk of DNA damage (chromosome abnormalities that may cause cancer) by 42%. By the way Doctor's Natural Vitamins contain 80 mg of vitamin B3.

Protect your DNA and cells from damage with Doctor's Natural Vitamins, which contains all the optimal doses of vitamins you need to stay healthy including B3.

Cancer risk in frequen flyers - Daily mail

Cancer and air travel

Dr. Bo Nielsen's comments:

It is a well known scientific fact that frequent flyers, pilots and cabin crew have a higher incidence of certain types of cancer. Compelling scientific evidence reinforces the theory that flight attendants could be up to five times more likely to develop breast cancer and cabin crew of either sex could be up to five times more likely to develop the deadliest form of skin cancer. Even frequent flyers are at a higher risk of developing cancer according to four studies which conclude that cosmic radiation could be the cause of these higher rates. Long-haul trips even disrupt our body's clock and affect hormone levels resulting in even additional risks.

I have together with other researchers developed Doctor's Natural Vitamins which contain extra amounts of all the B vitamins because we know how important high dosages of these vitamins are to our health. When it comes to vitamin B3, we have included 80 mg in your daily dose of Doctor's Natural Vitamins to ensure that you really absorb the amounts you need to stay healthy. The study above shows that by adding only 28 mg of supplemental vitamin B3 to your healthy diet, you may reduce your risk of DNA damage by 42%. We believe that 80 mg is even better.
