Coenzyme Q10 puts the oomph back into your life

Whether you are a professional or amateur athlete or just someone who needs to increase their energy level and maintain overall health, coenzyme Q10 is the answer. For athletes, Q10 has recently been discovered to reduce muscular injury caused by exercise.

Why do we need coenzyme Q10 supplements?

Q10 is not only indicated for athletes. Any adult can benefit from Q10 supplements because coenzyme Q10 is a substance that is naturally produced by the body and is responsible for the production of our energy. The problem is after the age of 25, values of Q10 in the body begin to decrease and the majority of people over the age of 40 do not produce sufficient amounts of this important antioxidant.

Coenzyme Q10 is essential for our existence; without Q10 we would simply die. Q10 is an important antioxidant and also plays an essential role in the development of cell energy in the form of ATP (adenosinetriphosfate). Without sufficient amounts of Q10 in the body, energy production is reduced and the first symptom is that you start having less energy than you used to. By the age of 40, the natural production is so low that many people start feeling less energetic. If you suffer from a chronic disease or are a professional athlete you may use more Q10 than you can produce even at an earlier age. Taking supplements with Q10 is a sensible way of bringing your Q10 levels back to their natural levels. I normally recommend between 30 to 100 mg daily depending on your age, lifestyle and medical condition. Remember to take your Q10 supplements in the morning because it takes up to eight hours before Q10 is absorbed - you don't want your energy to peak at 2 a.m.
