Coenzyme Q10 improves performance and reduces sports injuries

Added 03.07.2008

That coenzyme Q10 has a host of health benefits including boosting energy levels, and significant anti-aging and heart protective properties is not something new. What is new is that this antioxidant may well become an athlete's inseparable companion. Recent studies conducted on 18 elite Japanese kendo students showed that coenzyme Q10 supplementation reduced exercise-induced muscular injury.

It appears that the powerful antioxidant property of coenzyme Q10 is able to reduce levels of lipid peroxide (an indicator of oxidative stress) and reduce levels of creatine kinase (present in elevated quantities in cases of muscle damage and injury).

Q10 boosts physical performance

Another Japanese study suggests coenzyme Q10 supplements could boost physical performance and decrease tiredness associated with exercise.

Q10 helps other nutrients

As an antioxidant, coenzyme Q10 also plays a vital role in maintaining levels of vitamins C and E.
